Wolfe Creek Wednesday: Back to School Bash!
July 31, 2013

This post is a part of a series on our blog called “Wolfe Creek Wednesday”. Each Wednesday, we’ll be posting a fun fact, story, or a newsworthy piece of information about Wolfe Creek Preserve that we think you’ll find interesting! Although we’re best known for our world-class zipline course, our beautiful facility is also home to an array of indoor and outdoor activities, rich history, and a natural setting that we take great care to protect. We’re excited to have you join us each Wednesday so we can share more about our mission to make Wolfe Creek Preserve a place where people of all ages can have fun adventures and make lasting memories with loved ones!
Behind the Scenes with Safari Dan
Hello! I’m Safari Dan and I’m here today to give you a behind the scenes look at what I do here at Wolfe Creek Preserve. I’m sure you’ve seen me waving from a billboard, greeting customers in our store, or even joined me on a Guided Nature Photo Safari through our beautiful Nature Preserve, but what you might not know what my various responsibilities are each day at Branson Zipline. I’m the horticulturalist here on site which means that I know all about the various flora and fauna that live here. Though my favorite part about working here is sharing that ecological knowledge with others, I also have a lot of other responsibilities that I take great pride in completing. In order to give you a glimpse at who the man under the safari hat is, I thought I’d write this post about what “A Day in the Life of Safari Dan” is like. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments section below and be sure to “Like” my Facebook page to stay up-to-date on what I’m doing at Branson Zipline.
A Day in the Life of Safari Dan
Though each day changes and brings new adventures, here’s what an average day might look like from my point of view!

Wake up, eat breakfast, enjoy a view of the garden I’ve cultivated at my house over the years. I have dozens of rose bushes and I love to tend to plants that are sickly when I purchase them and help them thrive.

Arrive at Wolfe Creek Preserve ready for the day! When I get here, I typically check the schedule to see how many Guided Walking Tours that are booked for the day and then plan my schedule around that. If I don’t have a tour right away I love interacting with guests as they gear up for their tours, answering phone calls, and sometimes even working in the front office to greet guests.

The past few days I’ve incorporated something special into my work routine by visiting resellers. Our resellers are very important to us because they partner with us from all over Branson to help promote our tours and make sure that visitors to Branson know all about our world class facility. Wes, our Group Sales Manager, and I have trekked all over Branson to give our resellers a small token of appreciation and provide information about our tours. I’ve really enjoyed doing that because of the opportunity I’ve had to meet a lot of people (and see old friends) as well as visit some of my other favorite spots in Branson.
Walking tours are definitely my favorite part of working at Branson Zipline because I get to share the land that we’ve preserved with all of the guests who come to visit. Whether I pick a sassafras leaf for someone to smell, point out a Red Summer Tanger Bird, identify wildflowers that someone is curious about, or just share the historic story of the Wolfe Family as I watch zip liners soar ahead, I always love these walking tours. Because of our excellent Forestry Management Plan, the flora and fauna here has been protected and our walking tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the natural wonder of the Ozarks. Check out our website to book a walking tour with me! I’d love to meet you!

If I don’t have walking tours booked for the rest of the day, I’ll work sometimes in the front office upstairs. There, I greet customers, make reservations, and help guests sign in for their tours. I really love interacting with the guests who come visit because of their enthusiasm for the outdoors and adventure!
I love working at Branson Zipline because my job allows me to be outdoors and share my knowledge of nature with others. I find the plants and animals that live here to be fascinating and love when other people are curious to learn about them. If you’d like to learn a little bit online each day about a new species or what I’m up to, follow me on Facebook. In addition to “Liking” me on Facebook, be sure you book a Photo Safari and Guided Walking Tour so you can experience the beauty of Wolfe Creek Preserve for yourself!
